Sketchbook 23- Through Procrastination
Back on the blog with my classic attempt to avoid laziness (or perhaps a masterful demonstration of productive procrastination). Let's see what we've got this time around...
Figure Studies: The Fallen Series
Two pieces exploring figures in vulnerable positions:
"Man Down!!!" - A study of intertwined figures, one woman helping/dragging another
"Fallen Down" - A solitary figure face-down, wearing underwear, merged with the bed beneath
3 AM Wisdom: Baby Sketches
Ever got up at 3 AM because you couldn't sleep and started sketching? Well, let me give you the advice I'd give myself: "get a life" :/
But since we're here... I sketched my niece on shoe stuffing paper. These are now destined for my walls because apparently, I need something that says "not a psychopath." Though I realize baby sketches might not be the most convincing evidence of that (lol).
2020 Returns & Daily Sketches
I'd like to say it's my New Year's resolution to blog regularly, but by now it's clearly established that that's never gonna happen. Still, here we are with sketches from the last few days, proving that sometimes consistency finds us even when we're not looking for it.
Body Studies & Inspirations
After a long day of what I like to call "professional procrastination," I created this piece inspired by the work of Hannah Lee Joshi (I think that's her name). Along with some explorations in exaggerated human forms - because why stick to reality when imagination is more fun?
A note on consistency: The good news is, I'm getting more consistent with this "everyday thing." The bad news? I might have officially mastered the art of procrastination in the process. But hey, as long as there's art coming out of it, I'm counting it as a win.
Feel free to share your thoughts below, especially if you too find yourself sketching at questionable hours or using art as your favorite form of procrastination.
