swarms at NID

This illustration is for the topic of Illustration Friday; swarm

I tried to depict the sky in the evening at NID, it is covered with thousands of birds flying in flocks. when they sit on leafless trees it looks as if a gentle breeze is moving the leaves of the trees. And then when the birds fly it feels as if the tree has weathered and the leaves have dispersed into the sky. The noise of their chirping is so loud its difficult to hear a person talking 10 feet away from you.
You can just sit and look at them till the sun sets. But after that you need to take cover because as it turns dark it starts raining bird shit.
I tried out different ways of using the crowquill by diluting the ink and I think it brought out interesting depth and variation.
